About The Holidays, Incorporated
A national bridge organization built on sisterhood, service, and a shared commitment to education — since 1965.
Who We Are
The Holidays, Incorporated is a national social bridge club founded in 1961 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Our founders — Florence Creque, Bernice Murrell, Demerice Erwin, and Bessie Allen — were professional African American women who decided they would overcome a social handicap: the inability to play bridge. But they also determined this would not be a conventional bridge club. Their vision included broader ramifications — regular holiday entertainment for the family, a commitment to civic activism, and a lasting bond of sisterhood that would span generations.
Today, The Holidays, Incorporated consists of 25 chapters nationwide, bringing together members united by a shared love of bridge and a deeper purpose: building a legacy of opportunity for future generations.
